'Who Will Face Brazil?' winners announced

From 25 November to 5 December over 35,000 users submitted their predictions on FIFA.com for which three teams they thought would be drawn in Brazil’s group for the 2014 FIFA World Cup™. The ‘Who Will Face Brazil?’ prediction contest offered an incredible Grand Prize – a trip to the 2014 FIFA World Cup Final!

At the Final Draw for Brazil 2014, held on 6 December in Costa do Sauípe, the tournament groups were decided. The host nation’s fate was sealed alongside Croatia, Mexico and Cameroon in Group A. And what of the ‘Who Will Face Brazil?’ contestants’ fates? Today, we are happy to announce the winners of our ‘Who Will Face Brazil?’ contest!

The perfectionists

Remarkably, 66 club members correctly predicted all three of Brazil’s opponents! FIFA.com placed all 66 names into the Prize Draw. The first name drawn was awarded the Grand Prize - a trip to the 2014 FIFA World Cup Final! The next 10 names drawn will receive their respective runners-up prizes.

The statistics

Club members from Brazil, Colombia, Mexico and the USA dominated the contest in terms of both sheer numbers and quality of predictions. The four nations even occupied a large portion of the 66 ‘perfect predictors’ list. Brazil had 14 users in the top 66, followed by Colombia (10), Mexico (9) and USA (7). The perfect predictors took their submissions very seriously with one third of them waiting until 4 December, the day after the pot allocations for the Final Draw were revealed, to finally submit their picks for ‘Who Will Face Brazil?’ contest.

1,608 predictors came so close to perfect predictions, correctly guessing 2 of the 3 opponents. Over 11,000 Club members only managed to correctly predict one of the three teams, proving just how difficult it was and just how lucky you had to be, to predict Brazil’s 3 opponents!

The teams

Algeria, Cameroon, Ghana and Japan were the three most popular teams selected by Club members. Conversely, Colombia, Uruguay and Argentina were the three teams least selected by Club members to be alongside Brazil in Group A.
